After-School Programming

Aftercare start date: Wonders, our new Pre-K3, Pre-K4, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade provider, will start Monday, August 31. For families enrolled in OSTP (Grade 2) and/or Kid Power (Grades 3-5), we’ll utilize Garrison staff to provide aftercare – with homework time, sports, and outside play time – also beginning on August 31. We anticipate the Kid Power program formally starting closer to October 1.

Garrison is proud to offer a variety of before-care (7:00-8:15 a.m.) and aftercare (3:15-6:00 p.m.) opportunities that support the needs and interests of all our students and families. Formal on-site aftercare programs—including Wonders, OSTP, and Kid Power—provide safe, structured supervision, homework support, and recreational activities beyond the school day. The JCC, one of our community partners, also offers specialized programming for students age 4-10 at their off-site location.
 
Complementing these formal offerings is the Program for After-school Wildcat Success (PAWS), a collection of informal, PTO-organized clubs and enrichment activities that encourage students to explore new interests, develop skills, and connect with the Garrison community. From STEM and arts to athletics, leadership, and special interest clubs, PAWS offers engaging opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom.
 
Together, our aftercare providers and PAWS programming create a welcoming environment where every Wildcat can learn, grow, and thrive after school.

​Our PE teacher, Coach Cobb, and his staff team provide before-care each school day from 7:00-8:15 a.m. Interested families can click here or email Mr. Cobb at Duriel.Cobb@k12.dc.gov with questions or to enroll.​

Wonders Learning

Wonders Learning is Garrison's new partner offering extended day aftercare for Pre-K3, Pre-K4, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade families.

DCPS OSTP
​




DCPS Out of School Time Programs (OSTP) engages Garrison 2nd Grade students in academic support, a variety of enrichment activities provided by DCPS teachers, paraprofessionals, and partner organizations and free supper or snack.

To register:

1.) Complete your child's DCPS school enrollment for School Year 2026-2027 at enrolldcps.dc.gov. You cannot register for OSTP programming until school enrollment is complete.

2.) Use a cell phone, tablet, or computer to register at most.dc.gov.

3.) When you complete your child's OSTP registration, you will receive an initial email confirmation and/or SMS message indicating whether your child is enrolled or waitlisted in the program. Seats are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. If a seat becomes available, your child will be removed from the waitlist. You will be notified of any changes to your child's enrollment status via email confirmation and/or SMS message.

Kid Power
​




Kid Power creates space for Garrison students to keep growing beyond the school day. Their aftercare program is a transformative, strength-based experience designed to help students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grades discover their talents, grow their confidence, and develop the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond. Operating Monday through Friday for three hours daily, the program offers a safe and inspiring space for youth to learn, lead, and thrive. Learn more.

By enrolling in Kid Power, you are committing to consistently having your child in attendance until at least 5:30 p.m. each day.

Edlavitch Jewish Community Center (JCC)
​Families interested in attending after-school programs offered at the nearby JCC, may register directly with their organization. Garrison and JCC staff will coordinate the safe transfer of students over to the JCC facility (1529 Sixteenth Street NW) after the Garrison school day ends at 3:15 p.m.

PAWS Clubs and Activities
2nd-5th Grade wildcats are eligible to participate in various enrichment clubs and activities as part of our new PAWS offerings. The goal of PAWS is to provide upper grade (2nd - 5th) Garrison students an opportunity to expand their knowledge and find new interests. Whether exploring concepts of science, creating works of art, cooking, dancing, running, or learning sportsmanship, children enrolled in PAWS clubs and activities are engaged, learning new topics, interacting with their peers, and having fun! PAWS aims to provide something for everyone. The seasonal offerings vary in content and approach to accommodate different learning styles and interests.

Past club and activity examples include, martial arts, Volo Sports, Girls on the Run, the DC SCORES soccer and writing program, and various school teams, including flag football, soccer, boys and girls basketball, and cheer team.

PAWS Payments/Contributions
While OSTP and Kid Power aftercare programs operate at no direct cost to families, in order to provide quality supplemental clubs and activities, the Garrison PTO is seeking payment (either a one-time $1,500 up-front or a $150 recurring monthly auto-payment) from families in 2nd-5th Grades who are enrolled in either OSTP or Kid Power. Please note: These contributions are designated as general PTO donations restricted for enrichment purposes. As such, these contributions do not constitute payment for formal aftercare services (OSTP or Kid Power) and do not provide enrollment rights or guarantees for any program.
